About Harry Rios

Harry’s passion for the piano began at a young age, growing up in the vibrant musical culture of New Orleans. As a child, he was captivated by the piano, spending hours watching his musician father and his friends perform, and eagerly soaking up any knowledge they would share. This early exposure ignited a lifelong love of music that would shape Harry’s journey.

Despite facing resistance from some of his early piano teachers, who wanted him to focus solely on traditional sheet music and technique, Harry remained steadfast in his desire to learn through intuition and ear training. He developed a remarkable ability to play by ear, quickly mastering complex chords and melodies without relying on written notation.

This unique approach led Harry to great success, both as a performer and an educator. He has graced the stages of prestigious venues like the New Orleans Jazz Fest, captivating audiences with his virtuosic piano skills. Additionally, Harry’s students have been accepted into top music programs, including Rollins College and Stetson University, on piano performance scholarships.
At the heart of Harry’s teaching philosophy is the belief that learning the piano should be an intuitive, engaging, and accessible process.
